Autoprogettazione? by Enzo Mari
Autoprogettazione? by Enzo Mari
SUPERFOLK SAYS:
“This book is an outline guide to building rudimentary furniture that is empowering and liberating by allowing you to make simple, flexible furniture from inexpensive materials. This is not a step by step guidebook but more of a process and a philosophy that teaches a deeper understanding of material and structural engineering. My only wish is that I would have had this book as a teenager”.

ABOUT THIS BOOK:
This book is a project by designer Enzo Mari outlining designs for making easy-to-assemble furniture using rough boards and nails. It is not easy to translate into English the Italian word autoprogettazione. Literally it means auto = self and progettazione = design. But more than a book of design drawings this book describes Mari’s philosophy. Though elementary techniques of furniture making Enzo teaches us to look at present production with a critical eye.
The first edition of the book was compiled by the Duchamp Centre and printed for the exhibition at the Galleria Milano in 1974.

About Corraini Edizioni
“40 years of encounters, bandying between art and books, in search of new languages, contaminations, and free experimentation”.
Corraini Edizioni's publishing work ranges between design, art, and illustration, often blurring the boundaries between the different disciplines. Their ‘work is made out of curiosity and discovery, levity and fun [...] and an unpredictable and uninterrupted process that has lasted for over 40 years”.
Each book is the result of reflection on every aspect of form and content (size, type of paper and material, binding, cover, type of printing, graphics, selection of texts and images), in close collaboration with the author so as to find a harmonious editorial solution bringing concreteness to the idea-projects.
Their work with Bruno Munari stands out among their numerous collaborations. His influence was formative in the idea of a workshop that is always open to creativity and imagination and has influenced particular attention given to artists’ books for children.
The Corriani publishing catalogue includes books and objects by Munari, Martí Guixé, Enzo Mari, Bob Gill, Giosetta Fioroni, Ettore Sottsass, Paul Rand, Andrea Branzi, Steven Heller, Steven Guarnaccia, Alessandro Mendini, Alfredo Jaar, Italo Lupi, Daniel Eatock, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Antonio Marras, Paul Cox, Michele De Lucchi, Suzy Lee, Francesco Simeti, Luigi Veronesi, Riccardo Dalisi, Gabriele Basilico, Esther Lee, Taro Gomi, Richard McGuire, Taro Miura, Harriet Russell, Keri Smith, Yocci, Fausto Gilberti, Andrea Antinori, MOS Architects, Peter Mendelsund, and many others.
